When should you use a pure topwater bait vs a slash bait (diving jerk bait)? The difference is subtle but very important.
In this video, I break down the best times to use the Moonwalker (topwater) VS Skinny Lipper (slash bait), both are some of our most popular lures.
This way you can maximize your strikes and experience the explosive thrill of topwater fishing all day long.

Thanks, Pat for the detailed explanation between the two lures, great video!
Very good video Pat and the information that you covered was definitely spot on …. Top water baits have always been one of my favorites to throw … Nothing like a good blow up on the lure and sometimes they drive you nuts doing it …. Speed and patience has always been one of my concerns when using these lures …… Takes a little time to figure out their moods and habits but once you their is nothing like the top water bite …. Once again good video and thanks for sharing Pat ….. !
The facts I learned were great tips to put to good use thank you
Loved the video Pat.
One thing that we do up here in the Chesapeake Bay Area is on windy days we throw poppers more than spook style baits. I like the Chug Bug also the Rebel PopR is still hard to beat.
Would love to see a up sized version of the Moonwalker, using it for Striped Bass
Great video, Pat! I have been using the Skinny Lipper off and on since it was introduced. On my first trip, I caught a nice red on it, but since then, nothing. I have had more luck with something like a Paul Brown or MR17 when I need to go subsurface. I tend to overuse topwater just because I love a great topwater strike!
Make sure to be using the Skinny Lipper this time of the year as it should outproduce those lures given that it casts farther and can cover water quicker (Fall is the optimal season for the skinny lipper).
