The Skinny Lipper lure has quickly become one of my favorites for covering shallow water feeding zones because it can get strikes from both lethargic and aggressive fish.
The key is to match the retrieve to the fish’s behavior. This video below will show you the 3 retrieve styles that you need to cycle through as you’re searching for fish to see what they respond to best.
Please be sure to watch this quick retrieve lesson video because it can you can catch MORE fish in LESS time while using this unique lure!

Conclusion
Make sure to cycle through these retrieve styles as you fish because what they respond to can change throughout the day.
All 3 styles work, so it’s important to practice all 3 so that you’re ready to match the retrieve to what the fish are responding to best.
We can’t wait to see some great fish you catch with the Skinny Lipper.

Luke are you constantly reeling as you twitch the rod.its had to tell on the video
Depends on the retrieve style… if using as a topwater, I do pause in between twitches so the lure can float back to the surface. If a faster retrieve is used, I’ll be reeling in continuously. The key is to experiment with various speeds and tempos until you see what the fish respond to.
I have not had the opportunity to try this yet with the skinny lipper but I will definitely try it out next time I go. Thanks for the advice and I will keep you posted on my results .Tight Lines!🎣
We look forward to see how you like this lure once you’ve had time to get it out on the water.
Great video and demonstration on the best three options to use the skinny lip per . Thanks tight lines
Thanks David!
Thanks for the demo always great to see presentations 👍
Great video. Can’t wait to try it out.
This lure catches fish, on a recent trip to the Panama City area backwater, the redfish and trout were spooking all over but wouldn’t bite 3 or 4 inch Shadys, Mulligans or several top water including Moonwalkers we tried everything and every retrieve for 2 hours but when I put on the Lipper it was game on it was 3 of us and I only had one so I felt a little bad for the guys after 3 oversize reds and a small trout so cut it off and gave it to my buddies catch a few 😉
Great lesson on how to retrieve. Very versatile lure for sure!

Split ring on with loop knot, or take split right off and use loop knot?
Does it matter retrieving with or against current?
Great information. I love this lure. Shallow diving, great action, and always included in my tackle selection.
