Is this the new “Disruptor” of drone and GoPro fishing videos…
Or perhaps the “Disruptor” of almost all fishing footage in the future?
I mean, it sounds pretty appealing, right?
You simply turn this HD camera called “Lily” to the “On” position (the Lily camera has similar footage as most of the current GoPro models today – 1080p 60fps / 720p 12p fps), you throw it up in the air, and Lily records whatever the heck you are doing.
You don’t even need a pilot for this camera…
And did I mention that it’s WATERPROOF!
Pretty cool compared to the normal drone that immediately goes to the “drone cemetery” when it takes a dip in saltwater.
Heck, it’s so simple, your grandmother can use it!
How Does Lily Work?
From what I can tell, it looks like the inventor of this Lily camera took some of the best things about a GoPro and fused it with some of the best things about a drone…
All while making a video gadget that anybody can use.
Dog gone it, why didn’t I think of this…
Here are a few Pros and Cons on how it matches up with a GoPro and a Drone:
- 20 minutes total fly time. Similar to most of the drones today, but nothing compared to a GoPro or normal HD camera.
- Built it camera with 1080p, 12MP resolution, fixed focus, and digital gimballing
- Max Speed: 25 MPH (Sorry Usain Bolt, Lily is not for you)
- Max Altitude: 50 feet (So you won’t be able to get the sick aerial footage that a drone could capture)
- Waterproof rating: IP67 (in English this means it is completely dust-proof and can be submerged underwater up to 1-metre depth for 30 minutes)
- Weight: 2.8 pounds
- It can do still shots like a normal camera
- It can record sound
- And it can film while following you, leading in front of you, or looping around you
- No Pilot needed which is really nice
So you could use this kayak fishing, paddleboard fishing, or even fishing from the beach (I would say pier, but not a chance this will stay up for more than a minute on a public pier).

How much does the Lily Camera Cost?
As I write this, they are only doing pre-order sales, and they have the original price of $999 marked down to $799 with a $20 Lily shipping fee for a total of $819
And it originally was as low as $499 according some tech gadget sources that were following Lily from day 1, so they appear to be increasing prices as the demand has been going up.

Conclusion
We still aren’t 100% sure when these new “Lily Cameras” will hit the streets, but one thing is for certain… this will certainly disrupt the drone and handheld HD video camera market.
A “Throw and Shoot” camera that takes GoPro like footage that doesn’t require a pilot… who would have thought this would be a reality? Pretty wild stuff!
My only concern revolves around having too many of these darn things following people.
I mean, what if 100 people all had a Lily camera following them while they ran around in a public fishing area or boat ramp? Eventually, one of the Lily’s is going to crash into another one, potentially falling on a kid or a pet…
Just saying.
It’s the same reason I don’t think everyone should fly a drone… leave it to the pros.
But at any rate, this Lily camera looks pretty cool, and I am looking forward to trying one out and doing a review in the future. And I am certain you will see these out filming fishing footage on the water soon.
Huge thanks to Corey Gatlin for showing us this video.
