No need to get your feet wet. Learn to cast, distance and precision. Fish to 3 yards at 150yds or go back to school.
Fish big at 150yards + use a South African slider for big bait or live bait.
We have many places where there is a sand bar at 100 to 120 yards. Wade that far in Jan at 0dark:00 hrs. You think!
Others where you need to fish on open sand at 150yds.
Close in stuff normally means heavy weed, or a lift up a cliff. Cliff gaff if necessary.
Basic rules. Night, depends on the pitch. Day, needs distance.
Easterly, stay in bed.
