[Fishing Fail] One-Of-A-Kind Lure Stuck In Mangroves
- By: Luke Simonds
- on

“If you’re not getting stuck in the mangroves every once in a while, you’re not casting close enough.”
When the fish are sitting deep under the mangroves, guess where you need to cast…
Deep under the mangroves!
However, that doesn’t always work out the way you intend it to.
We’ve been testing our new paddletail lure prototype to refine it and make sure it’s the best paddletail out there, and since we’re about to release it to the public we can finally release this footage.
Watch the video below for a classic fishing fail, plus some highlights of how the paddletail works (hint: it catches a ton of fish!).
Enjoy!

Considering all the fish I caught after getting the lure out of the mangroves, I’d say it was worth it.
And who knew a clump of weeds would ever come in handy!
Conclusion
Do you have any tips for getting your lures out of the mangroves?
Let me know in the comments below!
In just a few short weeks we’ll be launching our very first, and very own lure, the Slam Shady.
It’s a white paddle tail that’s been proven to catch tons of fish.
Stay tuned for the launch!

I like the videos with Otis in them – he’s a fishing buddy that pays attention ALL the time, and he doesn’t talk – well, not much. Just seems like he would make any trip happier, even if he scares a few fish away sometimes.
I guess the down side is cleaning the hair out of the boat – the lab I had shed enough hair to make a new dog every day!
Haha! The other down side is that my feet get crushed by him stepping or sitting on them over and over again… I always have to wear shoes when he’s on the boat:)
Tips here?? Hope so!
I’ve been taught by one of my favorite guides; DO NOT TUG! Do one quick yank with whatever slack is already in line and 95% of the time the lure comes flying out. Just duck because sometimes it’s heading straight at you lol. I fish mostly from my kayak and this works equally as well as it does on a boat.
Yes, the quick yank works best when using lures with exposed hook points. But when using weedless spoons and soft plastics, it’s often best to do short light taps because that’ll often result in the lure dropping right down into the strike zone.
Thanks! Noted. I don’t have many weedless spoons in my arsenal but I have lots of plastics. Waiting for the release of your new paddle tail!
Won’t play the video. A 15 minute video loads and plays immediately. This video is stuck for some reason.
Very odd… it is playing like normal for me. Here’s a link to see it in YouTube: https://youtu.be/VsbgdRcWRZw
actually this is why i recommend you take your dog with you. the sad is they are not here forever and they really enjoy every minuet they are with you. so hats off to you as otis has come a long way in a short time. he only went once while you were in the water not every fish you caught and i know that was real hard for him to do
Very true Roy! Yes, he at least is getting better at not jumping in when fish are on the line.
