“Deep Glow” Green Light Independent Review

If you followed us during our “March Fishing Madness” event, you know that we spent an entire month living and fishing on Little Gasparilla Island, Florida.
Moreover, at the island house we lived in for the month, we had a really awesome dock where we kept our two boats.
And before Luke and I left, we said, “What good is a great looking dock without some green dock lights so we can catch snook late at night?”
So we purchased two different underwater green lights right before we left, as we wanted to do a quick comparison to see which one put out the best light, which one helped us catch the most snook, and which one we might buy again.
The two green lights we tested were (they were both around the same price range $409-$439)
- “Deep Glow” Green Light
- “Green Glow” Green Light (the 21,000 Lumen version – click here to see this review)
Here are the pros and cons about the Deep Glow Underwater Green Light.
Deep Glow Green Light Review
The Pros
- This Deep Glow green light was incredibly easy to use.
- It had the easiest to understand (and coolest) instructions we have ever seen with a simple 1-page Infographic.
- It was built like a TANK! We felt like we could accidentally drop this on the dock and it wouldn’t feel a thing (and the bulb and glass casing would be fine…unlike the Green Glow light we tested)
- You didn’t have to get wet to get this green light in the water. Simple drop in, and it always lands right-side up.
- It was easy to relocate if you wanted to move it to a new spot on a dock, a completely new dock, wash off, etc.
- It was the BRIGHTEST green glow out of the two lights by far
- It also had the Deepest green glow (the Green Glow light was a bit lighter green)
- 30 feet of cable cord which is more than enough assuming you have electricity on your dock.
The Cons
- The only way to turn it on and off was manual (the Green Glow had an automatic on and off that was based on light…so when the sun went down, the other light automatically turned on). However, you can guy an optional timer that will have this Deep Glow green light turn on and off automatically.
- Although you could see the snook better (due to the bright light), it didn’t attract (or help us catch) any more snook than the Green Glow. In fact, it came up a complete tie in terms of catching snook from each light over the month.

Conclusion
Overall, this Deep Glow underwater green light is an excellent choice.
And even though we caught about the same amount of snook from both lights over the month, if we were buying a new one today, we would buy this Deep Glow light over the Green Glow light in the future.
Why?
Well this Deep Glow was so much brighter, it looked sharper in terms of making your dock look lit up at night, you could see the snook with more clarity due to the bright light (although it attracted the same amount of snook as the other light), and it felt like it was almost indestructible versus the Green Glow which was much thinner glass.
The only thing we would do differently is buy the optional timer so we don’t have to keep turning it on and off manually.
Finally, Deep Glow proclaims that their lights are up to 60% brighter than other green dock lights, and we have to say that is a true statement based on our experience.
Deep Glow = Salt Strong

Well initially it was awesome but I had to send it back twice and had problems each time it was returned back to me. It just became dim the first time. Second time the bulb filled with water. After receiving it back from that it continually trip the breaker. I was afraid it would electrocute someone in the water so I tossed it in the trash. This was just my experience with Green Glow.
