On Day 3 of fishing with Wounded Warrior Scott Lilley, we woke up to one of our first overcast days in quite some time.
But today was Brandon’s last day on the island (he had to get back to family and work in Texas), so we weren’t about to let a small rain front get in our way.
Right out of the gates, Luke lands a huge (over slot) redfish on the grass flats near our house.
We all casted for about 30 minutes after that, but then we looked up in the sky to see this massive, nasty looking, and incredibly fast moving rain storm headed our way.
So we all reeled in and tried our best to beat the storm…
Needless to say, the fast moving storm won.
But we managed to get back to Salt Strong HQ before getting completely drenched.
After waiting out the rain for another couple of hours, it was time to take Brandon back to the docks for his trip back home.
We said our goodbyes, came back and had lunch with Scott (while we waited for the weather to clear), and then finally headed back out for a beautiful Florida afternoon of fishing.
Our first stop was the Gasparilla Marina where we got more fuel and took some amazing underwater GoPro footage of the snook under the marina dock.
And then once we hit the flats, Scott tore it up again with snook and a few more trout.
On the other hand, I caught a nice redfish and then a pinfish pooped on my glasses while I was “catching bait”.
We tried to get Scott on a redfish so he could say he caught an inshore slam his first weekend ever inshore fishing, but it would have to wait for Day 4…
We watched an amazing sunset, came back for a lasagna feast, and then Scott and I destroyed Luke and Andrew at the board game Sequence.
Another awesome day with our friend Scott.
