We’ve all been there…
You’re working your topwater and then, BOOM!
The blowup you’ve been waiting for happens.
But there’s one problem…
There’s no tug on your line!
The fish somehow evaded all six hooks (or two if you’ve swapped out the treble hooks with single hooks) and didn’t get hooked.
Sometimes this happens several times on the retrieve and the fish just won’t cooperate.
But there’s a trick to catching that Houdini of a fish.
Check out the video below for the secret.
Enjoy!

Sounds like a good idea, Tony. I’ve been reeling in the topwater after a missed strike before following up with a soft plastic, but keeping the topwater in place may result in also keeping the trout / redfish more in place.
Yep I like to just leave it there. Reduces the chance of the fish taking off by the time you reel it in and grab another rod.
Would using a sub surface bait like a catch 2000 be just as good and maybe easier?
It could possibly work, but I think it would look too similar to the topwater. I feel like the fish commit more to a soft plastic than a hard bait, which is why I like to follow up with the soft plastic.
