Pros
- Made In The USA
- The Blank (Great blank made out of carbon fiber)
- Super lightweight and great feel
- Great backbone for hooksets
- Gimbal butt that can be put into a rod holder nice and firmly
Cons
- Split grip that could get caught in a rod holder when pulled out.
- EVA Grip Handle (This is a personal preference because I prefer cork.)
- Price Point (A little over $200 which is more than many other rods on the market… but it’s very competitive with rods that are made in the USA)

I just received this rod and am very impressed with it. When the discount is taken into account, it is a steal – I think it is much better than the TFO and on par with the St. Croix Avid Inshore (and a whole lot cheaper).
So glad to see that you’re enjoying your new rod
So, I liked what I saw in the review of the Cashion rod, and looked a t few video’s on youtube on the manufacturing process, thanks Luke good review. I actually like split handles, so I decided to order a rod. Went to their web site and looking at the ICON series decided to order a 7’6″ Medium Fast and a 7’4″ Medium Heavy. When I looked at the drop down, there was nothing stating the 7’4″ was a Bait Caster and the rest were Spinning Rods. So, I was surprised when they arrived and one was a bait caster. I immediately called Cashion and explained what happened. I talked to Colin and two things happened… First, he said no problem, apologized for the issue, sent me a free return postage and worked with me to decide to go with the Heavy medium fast for my second rod they will also ship out for free. Secondly, while we were on the phone, he went in and made a change to the web site labeling the bast caster rod. All I have to say is great service and I can’t wait to give the rods a try the new rods and glad I could buy from a U.S. manufacturing company. Great service.
Thanks for sharing the helpful intel
A couple of criteria that have been used to judge rod performance in the past has been hook-set power / action, and casting distance. How does the Cashion rod under review score in these categories? Maybe compare to the TFO Pro that you have “liked” before.
Those are the three items I focus on when evaluating a fishing rod… this rod scored great for all 3. Compared to the TFO pro, it has very similar performance metrics in terms of power, action, and casting distance. The Cashion rod’s lighter weight gives it a slight edge on feel of strikes. While the TFO has a slightly stiffer tip which gives it the edge on hook sets when using weedless soft plastic lures.
I have a 7 ft. MH/F Cashion & it is surprisingly strong for such a light weight rod. It is a pleasure to use as I am power fishing apprx. 90% of the time. I agree with Luke on nearly every point he makes.
Thanks for making time to post the helpful comment George!
Happy to support a U.S. manufacturer and home grown engineering ingenuity. It will be my next rod purchase.
Glad to see that you’ll be getting a Cashion ICON rod. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
I’m stoked to try one of these Cashion Rods out!!
I went on their website and it didn’t list the weight of the rods they sell. This is important information. I am interested in the setup you had M 8-14. Can you find out what it ways and ask their web master to post the weights of the rods on their site?
Good catch… I’ll pass this along to their team.
Wat set up wood u use for ln shore , live bait with a popping cork.
The rod I have is great for that type of fishing… it’s their ICON 7’6″ Medium Power Fast action rod. Any pretty much any sized 2500 to 3000 reel will work well with it (my personal favorites are the Daiwa BG MQ and the Fuego LT).
My wife and built a home here in Sanford NC a year and a half ago to get closer to work. One of our neighbors told me about Cashion Rods. I had never heard of them so I drove to their factory just a few miles down the road. The have an area in the front where they sell rods and tee shirts in the back. The building is all open and you can watch them making the blanks and putting them together. They are happy to give a tour and if you aren’t near by you can get one on YouTube. Anyway I’m a gear geek. I love checking out new stuff. I am almost as obsessed about bass fishing as coastal inshore. I fish from a kayak. That first rod I bought became my favorite and I have bought 3 others as well.
the rods are strong. Sensitive and balanced and I use them a lot. When I really got into kayak fishing the coast I just brought the same rods. I pair them up with Shimano Curados and just recently got 2 Diawa Coastal TW reels which I love also. They make surf rods and now inshore rods for the coast but for me I just love the bass rods for my yak. This company is cool because they make everything in house. They build the blanks, grips, everything. The owner Matt is down to earth and friendly. Give them a try you will grow to love these rods.
By the way they have a warrenty on breakage. They will give you a new rod for 65.00 if you break it. I got one with my truck door a few weeks ago walked in there with it and came out with a new one 15 minutes later
Thanks for making time to post the nice comment Rob! So glad to see that you’re enjoying your Cashion rods too.
UPS just delivered my new Cashion 7’6″ rod. It was broken…story of my life. I’m waiting to see how quickly they turn this around.
So sorry to hear about that… the shipping companies have become more and more sloppy over the past 12 months, so this issue most likely isn’t attributed to Cashion.
