The #1 Lure For Fishing In Shallow Water During The Fall

If you could only have one lure for fishing during the fall, what would it be?
I’d go with a big bulky paddletail, like the Slam Shady Bomber!
In this new video, learn why this lure is perfect for fall inshore fishing.

The Slam Shady Bomber is great for fishing the shallows, especially rigged on a weedless hook.
I’d recommend a Hoss Helix Hook (4/0 with a 1/8oz weight).
And there is a lot of plastic so you need to use a rod with a lot of backbone for a good hookset!
The Bomber enables you to cover a ton of ground.
In the fall, fish are more aggressive and baitfish are bigger (and the Slam Shady Bomber is the perfect lure to use during this time).
The big body and big tail make a ton of noise along with great action in the water.
And you don’t have to do anything fancy with the retrieve.
Just a straight retrieve with this big paddletail works great to catch snook, redfish, trout, flounder, and tarpon.

Luke,
I always enjoy your videos and great tips. Happy to have internet access again after hurricane Ian.
Hey Luke, just received an order today, to include Bombers in Slam Shady, Gold Digger, and F.R.E.D. Can’t wait to try out my new TFO combo. Hopefully I have all my bases covered for a good weekend of fishing the lower Cape Fear with some out of town company. Thanks for the great products. Cheers and Tight Lines!
Looks like you have the bases covered. I look forward to seeing how you do out there.
Excellent educational video, Luke.
Thanks for making time to post the nice comment Robert!
Oh yeah, I have my bombers ready. I’ll be on my kayak in Spruce creek Saturday. Moonwalker of course will be ready too. I’ll have the slam shady and gold digger color ready to go. Thanks for the info luke 🤙
Looks like the fish in Spruce Creek will be in big trouble on Saturday.
Heading to the coast of SC post Ian. Watched the video about after the storm with Captain Peter. Is there anything else we should do to help find the fish up in the creeks.
Just be sure to keep an eye out for any zones with a lot of baitfish activity near some structure because the predators will usually be nearby ready to eat.
Luke…when you use a jig head with the bomber, do you still use the Trout Eye, or move up to Redfish Eye? TE seemed a little short. Thanks!
The Trout Eye jigs will work, but the Redfish Eye jigs are better suited for them. Here’s a link to the cheat sheet for pairing all of our lures with their recommended jig head or weighted hook for each depth zone in case you haven’t yet seen it: https://saltstrongdev.wpengine.com/articles/depth-guide-lures-hooks/
Of coarse you would say the saltstrong number but not to me any gulp paddletail with a chartreuse tail on my reliable gold bladed spinnerbait is my go to bait after the spook Jr in either bone and chartreuse or black and gold if the water here is exceptionally dirty either by wind or rains
Not number but bomber sorry stupid phone glitch again
Thanks for sharing your favorites Steven!
Please notify me when the TFO’s are available. I want two of them.
Make sure to use the “Notify Me” feature on the product page in fishstrong.com so that the system notifies you when the specific size(s) you want are back in stock… you have the option to get a text or email: https://fishstrong.com/collections/saltwater-rods/products/tfo-pro-professional-spinning-rods
It worked great today!
Great news!!!
Luke,
Have you “nubbed” a bomber for a large finess jerk bait presentation?
Yes. The bomber works great as a jerk bait when the tail is off just like the slam shady 2.0.
Awesome! Great to know & add to the arsonal, if the bomber paddletails arent gettin it done! Thank you!
