After little luck fishing some more open areas, I pushed back into some nearby creeks.
Some juvenile tarpon were around so I rigged on a Gold Digger paddletail with the tail removed to create the Nub Rig.
I caught a small snook and decided to push back even further into the creeks when I finally started seeing some activity.
At this point, I switched over to throwing our new Mulligan lure in the Alabama Leprechaun color.
As soon as I made the switch to the Mulligan, I got a hit on my very first cast.
Switching over to a larger lure better mirrored the bait the fish were actively feeding on.
The rod I was primarily fishing with on this trip is the Cashion Element Inshore Spinning Rod that we’ve just added to our online tackle shop.
Furthermore, I pushed even further back into small creeks and cut-outs amongst the super tall grass.
After little luck, I went back to the smaller creek mouths and sure enough hooked into a fish almost immediately.
It became clear that the fish were mixed between a fall and a winter pattern with most behaving in tune with winter.
The larger creek openings and flats were mostly quiet until I moved back and began fishing the feeder creeks.
Conclusion
This is a TEXTBOOK redfish wintertime pattern.
The bite was slow and tough to detect for at least the first 3 hours of this trip.
But once I was able to match the hatch and locate where the fish were staged, it was tight line after tight line!
Keep your eyes peeled for the Mulligan lure COMING VERY SOON!!!
