That a great method. If I have live shrimp or catch a pinfish I leave them out behind the boat on a popping cork and circle hook while I cast off the front. When I can’t get anything to bite artificials something usually gets the live bait sitting off the stern.
Good stuff!
I haven’t tried that type of fishing but will give it a go now after reading your article.
Give it a shot!
I like your idea and will try it when I’m back on the water.
Let us know how it goes!
Yea Tony I actually used to do that method of fishing a long time ago when I used to use live shrimp and because I’m usually constantly on the move because that’s how I find the fish to me its kinda like trolling where as the shrimp rig is towed behind the kayak or boat so one gets double tge chances of hooking a fish instead of one but im glad you showed me this video because even though I dont use live shrimp anymore doing the same method only using my trusty chasebaits flick prawn towed behind my boat on a popping cork might work as well pop the cork now and then after casting a few times with the paddletail or other lure and you just never know cant hurt to try just be sure to not get to close to oysters or weeds to prevent the cork setup from getting snagged thanks for the info and video and all you do and be safe considering you central and south Florida anglers are more in hurricane miltons path more then us north eastern Florida anglers are goodluck
Made it out safe here in Orlando. Tornados were a big issue here more than anything. Some areas got hit pretty bad.
Fishing two rods can be a good tactic to help figure out the bite. However, fishing two rods at once can be a curse.
For sure!
I very often use two rods with one trolling live shrimp on a 1/8 oz jig head (or 1/4 oz if deeper than 7 ft) while casting arty or another live shrimp. Yesterday this produced a 27″ red that had on a piece of shrimp previously nibbled by other fish! And, yes, must reel in one rod before getting tangled by the catching rod, making certain you have a good hook set to prevent losing that fish.
Fishing two rods at once can be a curse if you don’t know what you’re doing. Very advantageous to fish two rods in deeper water to cover different parts of the water column. Experiment, give it a try, and report back your successes and failures!
