It isn’t getting too close to shore…

…and it isn’t inaccurate casting.

Time and again this little often overlooked mistake is costing you fish.

I’ve even fallen victim to it myself.

It’s when we fish a productive shoreline and then pick up and move.

We fish one end to the other and catch a bunch of fish then end up leaving in search of more productive water.

But we just found the productive water!!!

Instead of going off to another spot, circle back and fish that same shoreline again.

Don’t leave productive water to go find fish.

Rule # 1 when you’re catching fish.

Never leave fish to go find fish!

Thanks Pat!
I might be taking it too far, but I generally stay in the same area as long as there’s a bite – unless I’m not catching the species I want…

Great lesson Pat…Never leave biting fish to find biting fish. Super glassy conditions, protected shoreline with dark bottom. I would guess you used stealthy Leprechaun?
As always many thanks

Well pat the way I look at it its no wonder newbies now days make that mistake you have to remember when our generation(baby boomers) were growing up when we were told that if something doesn’t make sence to NOT do it now I believe and see and hear it’s the other way around especially with the young generation if it doesn’t make sence it seems they want to do it more but that’s a confusing story that I care not to really talk about because to me its downright stupid but anyways no pat I guess im one of the few anglers that is if im into fish I definatly donot leave just like you said you just found the fish so in my common sence thinking why would I move well I don’t and like you I will also fish a productive area several times before I leave and only leaving if the fish just simply stop hitting in fact quite a few times this year the most recent being about a month ago when my plan was to fish a small area that has numerous structure but doesn’t get a whole lot of pressure like some areas around this area I started catching reds and a few trout and found the fish so active there that I not only didnot move for a while but literally spent the whole day fishing this area and only seeing one other boat there in the process that only stayed for about 15 min and the time before that I was fishing a productive shoreline at another location and saw several boats ahead of me really not doing anything but since I caught a red just before they got there I decided to fish behind them about a hundred yards from there location and I caught several more reds in water that they just fished but I’m not bragging or trying to make myself our to be the ultimate angler because I’m fat from that but just saying about my own experiences I take what others say here on the comment section and in my talking to other anglers with a grain of salt because alit if times what I experience by following there advice is way different then what they said they experienced I always make my own judgment call and being no perfect angler or human for that matter sometimes im right and sometimes I’m not anyways it is what it is thanks for the info and video and all you do😉👍
