FINDING THE FISH HELP
In order to help make sure that you are targeting the right areas based on the latest feeding trends and upcoming weather forecasts, make sure to use the following 3 resources because they will save you a ton of time.
1. WEEKEND GAME PLANS (UPDATED WEEKLY)
These regional game plans will show you exactly what types of spots to target in under 10 minutes… just click the video to start, and you’ll be informed on what to do on your next trip.
2. SMART FISHING SPOTS PLATFORM (UPDATED EVERY 15 MINUTES)
This exclusive software literally shows you where the most fish are likely to be feeding based on exactly when you’ll be fishing. It factors in the tides, wind, and weather to help you quickly see which areas to target throughout the day.
3. COMMUNITY REPORTS (LIVE FEED)
The Insider Community platform is what you can use to see what is biting near you, and you can get to know other members who fish in your area. Plus, you can use it to keep a log of your catches so you can use past trips to help predict future catches.

Much of the content is “Florida-centric”. I’m a Northeast member and would love to see more relatable content. There’s a somewhat untapped demographic here. It’s a tough area because it’s so seasonal, but with the right content, it would be an opportunity to expand. Many up here don’t (yet) realized the benefits the club offers. A lot of the tackled offered at Fish Strong is GREAT for Striper, Fluke and Blues (they’re beasts in the Northeast up to 20 lbs). I think maybe a little more content on things like the Fall Striper Run could boost exposure in the Northeast.
Overall, I think you do well. You are getting many good suggestions. I believe that there are not enough coaches covering smaller, regional areas. When you lost Wyatt living in Corpus, you lost a real gem. Personally, if you could recruit Nathan Fulks as a full or part time contributor for the lower Texas coast, I believe that would be great.
It might help some of us if there was a way to sort the mass of information you have in a way that matches our fishing style. Fishing from land, from bridges or jetties, surf, flats fishing, and a section for those of us with bay boats restricted to channels and deeper waters.
Finding ways to make it easier for us to find information on your site. How about having a button where we can click to see all of those members we are following. I cannot find that anymore. How do you see all the questions that are submitted to the “Ask a coach”? maybe more of the regional diagnoses like Nathan Fulks did for the Port Isabel area. Seeing the same thing done for the same area from a different perspective / individual would also be interesting since we all approach fishing slightly differently.
Showing my age, I used to love when a site would post a site map. Going back to the old days of DOS, we had the tree command to explore the file structure and help find what we were looking for. You have an incredible amount of information and anything you can do to make it easier to find things would be appreciated.
I realize I focus on the South Texas area, but I assume members from other areas would appreciate similar items about their areas.
That sounds like a great plan of changes.
Very cool that you’re asking for feedback Joe. It shows true humility as a leader. I think you all are doing a lot of things right. I’ve found the content to be very helpful, insightful, and instructive. It’s definitely helped me catch more fish. That said, in terms of my constructive feedback, I would echo some of the other points here about some things I would like to see. 1) quality vs quantity of content, 2) more wade/surf fishing tips for those of us who don’t always go out on or have access to a boat, 3) videos/writups on-the-water action with members in different areas 4) more gear/tackle reviews. I’ll send an email to elaborate.
I don’t think you have a content problem exactly, it feels more like you have a discovery/delivery problem. Just looking at these comments it seems people don’t want all the content they want relative content. I hear similar feedback at our chapter meetings as well.
I don’t know what happened but it seems like notifications on podcasts, and the like dropped off as far wha I used to receive. But I get the YouTube notification and kind of catch up that way. The online q & a you used to have was good but I can see it being a grind. Maybe you could rotate, like being on call instead of every coach involved or nothing this week. But even with no changes you’re still the best!
This is a question with a few comments (thoughts). You said there is a new mini course every month, I did not know that. Where do I find it? I have looked at most of the mini courses in the “my courses” section, most have been there since I joined as a VIP member 2 years ago, I don’t see a new one each month.
maybe somehow provide a table of contents type section where everything available can be searched.
what you described in the podcast sounds good, but it may turn out that each of us has interest in only the topic of a few months, not sure how you keep 50,000 of us scattered in many states intetested each month.
many of the previous comments have some great points that I really agree with. I am one of those in Pasco County, not much personal coverage here. Spot dissections without on the water assessment are not really helpful, more misleading.
I also enjoy shore fishing in addition to the kayak, I agree with the comment about parking the boat and focusing a bit more on that type of fishing. Target more content on us “non professional”, or maybe more accurate “non expert” type recreation folks just trying to catch a few fish where we can.
Joe, You are doing a lot Right! Saltstrong might have actually reached saturation in some areas. It would be interesting to see your member distribution on a map. How many total inshore anglers are there in the eastern US anyway?
Taking local members fishing sounds like fun. You should include a local charter captain in the group to maximize the experience.
Some of us are still dreamers with day jobs and small (or no) boats. I personally plan to be a lot more active after I retire in 6 weeks. There are probably a lot of members or potential members in that situation.
Keep up the good work! You have improved my life already.
How about a table of contents on the “fishing tips” Thanks
A contributor to the repetition that others cite is a low priority on organization. For all the new Insiders being recruited, repetition may be helpful in driving the SS messages. For those here after a few years, the repetition doesn’t enhance the learning experience. When using the search engine to find previous articles, it often pulls up numerous pages that may have over 100 results, and many are irrelevant other than having a word used in a search. About a year ago when feedback was requested, I suggested having a page showing active links to the tags being used. By example, if wanting to find “mini courses”, I click on that tag to pull up all content that has been tagged as a “mini course”. If the creator of the content uses certain tags, that is more helpful than a table of contents (i.e., title of article) since it means looking through 3,000+ titles to find those that are of interest.
First I want to thank you guys for all you do already . And don’t want for you guys to take away from your family time, as I can’t image how you guys do as much as you do and still have a life.
