To start, the rod comes in an awesome, protective carrying case.

The rod blank itself is from TFO’s Tactical Inshore Series.

It is lightweight and is split into 3 pieces.

The pieces are easy to assemble and TFO took things into account that other travel rods ignore.

How can you ensure the pieces are perfectly aligned every single time?

There are small dots on these rods that help guide you to the exact right position.

All the guides on the rod will be perfect and face the same direction.

If you plan on traveling and doing typical inshore saltwater fishing, this is the ideal choice.

This is a Medium Power rod that is 7 feet long.

It’s compact enough for travel and capable to power in BIG fish if called upon.

As far as the line goes, this is in the 6-12 lb range, and in most cases, we are fishing with 10 lb braid.

At first glance, I am very impressed with the packaging and after I hit the water with it a few times, I’ll release a review on how it performed out on the water.

TFO certainly did not cut any corners when designing this rod.

Overall, the blank is high quality and if you are in the market for a vacation or travel rod, I recommend you check this one out!

I have been using this rod for several years and pair it with a 2500 size reel. Fish it both at the Jersey Shore and Gulf Coast of Texas. It’s a great well made rod, super sensitive especially for being a 3 piece rod. I fish it in the surf and bay and its strong enough to handle any fish you are going to be catching close to the shore even moderate size rays ! Its only slightly heavier than my G Loomis one piece rods.

You keep saying how great it is, but if the line is only 10-12 lbs, then unless you only hook up small fish, it will probably be broken off a lot, which would be an unhappy experience. That’s what happened to me with similar styled rod packages… Any chance of upgrading the line for true Salt water fishing?

Hi Luke and all. I have a thought. Sometimes when traveling to be around family I end up inshore, on a peir, trout creek and finish up with my grandchildren catching bluegill. I have a few TFO rods and I love them but can’t always travel with all of them. Any future plans of travel rod with medium light, medium and medium heavy. Sure would satisfy some needs for me and save a little space. Just wondering 🤔

Have previous TFO traveler 3pc (full cork) & Ardito. 2 cents is TFO case much heavier/sturdier, interior bag has 3 sections & guides generally much bigger than Ardito. Ardito is ~2x thicker than TFO, & has much smaller guides. Was really shocked how far Ardito threw a Moonwalker. Now considering using Ardito for surf/pier & TFO for kayak & anything else. Other note is Ardito reel seat & grip take a little getting used to (they’re not bad). TFO feels really light. I think they’re both really good but have different focus/strengths.
