I had a window to hit the water this week to try and catch White Perch with bloodworms.
My Live-Stream co-host Ed Gobbo joined me on this trip to see if we could increase our chances of finding some fish.

Ed and I started fishing in brackish water and we knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge going into the trip.
The area itself is an ideal spot for white perch, but the stained watercolor would pose an obstacle.
Our thinking was bloodworms would be the ticket to attract fish over to strike.
At first, it was nothing but tiny-sized white perch with zero keepers mixed in.
We stuck to our plan and kept at it in search of the 90-10 zone.
A bit later into the trip, Ed and I figured out that the semi-wind-protected shorelines with deep drop-offs held more fish than other areas.
The outgoing tide warmed the water up a bit more which caused the fish to be slightly off of where we anticipated.
When fishing for white perch, it can be common to pick up a striped bass as a bycatch.
However, you must know your local laws and regulations because it is illegal to specifically set out to target striped bass right now in my area.
Bloodworms are an excellent bait to use, especially for this type of fishing.

Overall, this trip was a huge success with over 50 fish caught between Ed and me.
It helped to have his intel from fishing the spot just a few days before but things can always change out on the water.
