How To Use Live Shrimp In The Shallows On Windy Days

As fishermen, we need to be ready to face a variety of weather conditions because it’s impossible to plan trips around nice weather.

One condition that we really need to be ready to handle is the wind because we’ll have to face it frequently wether we want to or not.

Fortunately, the days with high winds can actually be very productive if the right strategies and tactics are used.

This new video highlights some helpful tips for using live shrimp up in the shallows for redfish, seatrout, black drum, flounder, etc. on windy days:

What line are you using? Float tied to braid?

I think Taylor was using a 20lb power pro tied directly to popping cork

Hey guys! Thanks for the awesome tips! However I do have a question… we’re fishing in SE Louisiana (delacroix/shell beach area) where live shrimp are non existent at the moment( due to the hard freeze that rolled through here a few weeks ago and killed the live shrimp off) any suggestions on using frozen shrimp or even gulp shrimp? Or should this same approach work using those baits?

Is that a Legend Popping Cork?

The Paradise Popper has a piece of metal that goes through the cork, the Legend Popping Cork is what’s used in the video. No metal going through it and it’s got the brand name on the side!

I thought it was a Legend too.

Great video…..short, compact and straight to the key point(s)! Appreciate the shorter videos, when you can.

That’s Wyatt and Capt. I just came in from the garage rigging for tomorrow’s charter and set up two rods just like that. Now, to find the wind blown dirty water shoreline!
