Have you ever tried to store your Z-Man lures in a plastic container, or with other soft plastic lures?
If you have, you’ve likely noticed that they easily melt!
It’s heartbreaking getting to your honey hole, seeing tailing reds, and reaching for your favorite Z-Man lures, only to find they’re melted and out of commission!
Thankfully, there’s a way to combat this, stay organized, and save space at the same time.

I’ve heard and read that if a brand new plastic storage box has never had any other kind of plastics in them, then the ZMan baits will not melt together or the melt the actual box. I’m experimenting right now with 2 brand new small storage boxes (1 Plano & 1 BPS) that haven’t had anything else in them by putting a single zman TRD in each section. I’ll let everyone one know if this works. Just started this experiment yesterday. Will keep checking and advise.

Curious to hear the results!
Does anyone have a tip on how to clean the melted gel from a tackle box?
Hmm that is a great question! I would think some paint thinner or acetone would do the trick. I’ll have to do some experimenting!
Can you store different types of Z-Man plastics together though? Like some PaddlerZ with some MinnowZ for example.
Yes. It’s all about the material used in the soft plastics, and Zman uses the same material for the Paddlerz as they do on the Minnowz.
You can store Z-Man plastics together, but the colors may bleed. I emailed Z-Man about this specifically. Best just to keep them in the original packages.
Does anyone know where I can order zman slam shady minnowZ bait at only slam shady minnowZ
The Slam Shady baits are exclusively for Salt Strong Insider Club members, so the only place they can be ordered is on the Insider Shop page where the group discounts are located. Here’s a direct link to the Slam Shady’s: https://shop.saltstrong.com/products/slam-shady-paddletails
Can we mix 2 type of zman products of same colour (pearl) in one zman packet?
I wouldn’t recommend it because the colors will bleed into each other.
Send an email to Z-Man. I received a reply from them in about a day for a similar question.
Here’s another thing I found out about Z-man materials the hard way. I had some pearl colored Minnowz and I wanted to colorize the tails with yellow, garlic-flavored Spike-it Dip-n-Glo, like I do with my pearl colored DOA Cal shad tails. So I dipped 3 or 4 of the Minnowz’s and 10 minutes later, all of the tails fell off!
Yep, that is one of the few negatives of Z-Man bait material.
Very interesting! I actually bought a bottle of that and was going to test it out. Good to know! They definitely seem to be very reactive to a lot of chemicals. I also set one on fire out of curiosity just to see what happened and it lit up like it was covered in gasoline.
What’s interesting is that it ate thru the tails on the 3″ Minnowz, but not all of the 4″ DieZel Minnowz…
I give them a rub down with some pro cure super gel. Helps them smell tasty, but no glowing.
About 2 weeks late on this tip!! Haha! I had to learn the hard way. But I will say to anyone that has any Zman plastics they don’t use anymore; place some regular plastics with them and you have a cool experiment. NOTE: you will no longer have a Zman product or the standard soft plastics.
Bummer! They don’t play well with others haha.
Storing those Zman pouches in the frig instead of a hot garage is a good idea as well.
Good tip! I haven’t had any issues yet in the garage. Luckily it the door doesn’t face the sun at any time of the day
